Electronics to be imported to Taiwan is statutorily required to gain BSMI approval, which may be one of the following modes: registration, type approval, declaration of conformity. These modes regulate in different ways.

Products that are by nature unstable and risky are required to go through type approval each time they make customs declaration. If the same type of model has gained type approval, then exemption applies.
